Stephanie Compton - Zero Waste Expert

About me-In 2012, I was wanting to save the planet and didn’t know how. Burned out from working in restaurants, I quit, and was waiting for my dream job to suddenly appear before me to take. I wanted to work someplace where what I did made a difference for people and the planet.

I discovered a Craigslist employment advertisement for Texas Campaign for the Environment, “Do you want to improve recycling and protect the environment?”

I enthusiastically replied, YES! I interviewed and came back for the observation day to see if I liked it.

Not only did I like it, but I did well at it!I found my voice in talking to people and inspiring them to participate in local government to protect the environment.

From then on, I knew that there was no other place for me to be; I was going to change the world and I was doing it one door-knock at a time.

When I experienced burn-out again, I quit working for non-profits, and started a fossil-fuel free eco-tourism company.

Since then, I’ve honed my skills for inspiring people to do their part to protect the environment.

I'm an expert twice over as a TRUE Advisor and as a Zero Waste USA Associate. I bring my passion and enthusiasm to show people that another way than "throw-away" is possible.

Collaboration is the answer and we all have a part to play!
